(Tel: 055 321 5325) are the companies who maintain the city's parking areas and car parks. In most cases motorists should leave their car in a car park requiring payment. Parking areas are regulated by ZCS (Zona Controllo Sosta), which provides a variety of different types of parking: residents, workers commuting to Florence and occasional users.
The occasional user can park in the guarded parking areas and also in the blue 'pay and display' parking spaces marked with a 'P' for a maximum of two hours between 8.00am and 8.00pm and charged at an hourly rate. In the 'yellow' parking spaces, you can park at a low rate for the first 90 minutes but after the initial 90 minutes, the rate is dramatically increased to circa 5.00 Euros per hour. Furthermore, in the over-ground guarded car parks there is a fixed rate for the first 2 hours and another (higher) rate for each successive hour.
From 7.30pm to 7.30am, overnight parking at ZCS and in the yellow parking places is possible by using the 'gratta e sosta' (scratch and display) vouchers available from various outlets.
There are also special rates for tourists at Parcheggio del Parterre (Piazza della Libertà) and Parcheggio della Calza (Porta Firenzena). The rates are prefixed for 24 hours, overnight (6.00pm to 9.00am) and for a week. Parking at the Parcheggio del Parterre from 8.00am to 8.00pm will also give you the possibility of renting an electric car.
